Beef Kofta

Beef Kofta
For the koftas:
350g ground beef
1/2 tsp ground coriander
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1 tsp garlic paste
1 tsp ginger paste
salt and pepper to taste

Mix all ingredients and divide this mixture to make approximately 12 balls.

For the gravy:
1 bay leaf
1 cinnamon stick
4 cloves
3 cardamoms
1/2 tsp mace powder
2 tsp chillie powder
2 tsp garlic paste
1 tsp ginger paste
1 large red onion, finely minced
1 1/2 cups chopped tomatoes
1 tsp garam masala
2 tsp double cream

Heat oil in a pan, add bay leaf, cloves, cardamoms and cinnamon stick and saute over medium heat for 30 seconds.
Add onion, ginger, garlic and chillie powder with a little water. Add the chopped tomatoes, stir and cook.
Add the rest of the spice and simmer over medium heat until oil separates from the gravy.
Add the koftas into the gravy. Add 1 1/2 cups of hot water, sprinkle garam masala, cover the pan and simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
Add cream and remove from heat.
