A Poem

The Little Ordinaryness

by Hazzim Rahman

It was the little ordinaryness that I find appealing
The way you seem to light up when you saw me
The way you would float down the stairs when I came to visit

It was the little ordinaryness that I find amusing
The way you would laugh at my jokes which were silly
The way you would tell me a joke and you laughed first

It was the little ordinaryness that I find touching
The way you would sit down with Elsa and teach her songs
The way you would tear up when watching sad movies

It was the little ordinaryness that I find comforting
The way you would cook me my favorite meals just because
The way you would be there by my side when we walk

It will be the little ordinaryness that I will find missing
If I don't see you and hear your voice during the day
And I wake up and you are not there for me to say
That all the little ordinaryness that I share with you
Adds up to something, just a little, more than ordinary
