Mountain Trail

The Strathspey Steam Railway

Aviemore - Boat of Garten - Broomhill

After spending the better part of the morning at the amusement park, we decided to wind down the day by going on a slow steam train ride alongside the river Spey with the Cairngorm mountains as a backdrop.

Our journey began at Aviemore Station.
A magnificent Victorian building opened by the Highland Railway Company in 1898.

It has for 4 million years flowed this way on its 107 miles journey to the sea.
It is the second longest river in Scotland.
