Grub At A Grab - Pasta Carbonara

Another simple recipe
for my pasta-loving family

Biggest question one might ask - how much is a portion of spaghetti for 1 person?
I wouldn't want to start a debate on this topic
all I can say is, do as Italians do - they weigh their pasta!
Usually, 50g of dry, uncooked spaghetti is good enough for a small meal
but if you want to fill a whole plate, I'd say go for 100g
There! I've said my piece... now leave me in peace!!

Now, back to the recipe...

Pasta Carbonara
100g dried spaghetti
1 whole egg
50ml double cream
5 slices chopped turkey bacon
1 tsp olive oil
30g grated Parmesan cheese
salt and black pepper

Bring a large pan of salted water to the boil.
Add the spaghetti and cook according to the packet instructions,
until the pasta is al dente.

In a small pan, heat olive oil
and saute the chopped turkey bacon till golden brown.
Set aside.

Meanwhile, beat the eggs with the cream in a bowl.

Drain the pasta

Pour in the egg and cream mixture over the steaming hot pasta.
It's important to do it while the pasta is still hot as the heat will
slowly cook the egg without making it curdle.
You won't want a scrambled egg in your pasta, would you?! ;)

Add the turkey bacon along with the olive oil

Season and finish with Parmesan
