A New Day

After more than a week into the New Year, the sun finally made her grand appearance.

Just yesterday, we made the news when various rivers throughout Aberdeenshire, broke their banks.
One in particular was the River Don that runs through our nearest town, Inverurie. Residence found themselves having to abandon their houses as the floodwater rushed into their homes in no time at all. Many roads were closed and so was the airport… a day after Elsa left for her Uni… phew, close call, indeed!

On the home front, there wasn’t much in the way of news;
The ground was sodden – water seemed to be springing out of the ground everywhere we looked.
Thick irreplaceable branches were torn out of our century old Scots Pine.
And our pond burst its seam at its lowest point. It has now become a mini lake, much to the delight of the ducks - they're just about the only ones that welcome the wet weather! The same can't be said about poor old Lolita, who detested every minute she walked on the wet grass.
